Strengthened by Grace July 30th update
Written by Dwight Wagner
Friday, 30 July 2010

I'm so glad so many of you were able to be a part of our missions conference the past few days!  It was a wonderfully enriching time in the life of the church!  Those who came commented how much they enjoyed it and were blessed by so many of you!  Thanks to you all who served, ministered, planned, and came to the conference. Many memories, joys, friendships forged, and praise and prayer to bring before our God.

What do weddings, worn-out clothes, and wine have to do with one another?  We will find out Sunday morning as we will think together about  "A Superior Savior", continuing our study from Mark.  I would encourage you to read Matthew 9:14-17; Mark 2:18-22, and Luke 5:33-39 as you prepare for God's Word this week.  Also we will start to read through the book of Revelation in our Scripture reading. And don't forget about the Fighter Verse Matthew 10:28.

This Sunday evening we will observe the Lord's Supper. We will devote an entire service to the Communion theme. Among other elements, we will read Psalm 22 and John 19.  We will pray together and also end our worship with a time of testimony so prepare your heart to participate of what Christ means to you or how God has blessed you spiritually recently.  We are praying this will be a special time each month in the life of our church family.  If at all possible, make plans to join us for the observance of this ordinance.

I'm really excited for what we have in store as a church family in August including the following highlights:

  • Summer Bible conference with amazing teaching from leading pastors (Wednesdays at 7 PM)
  • Mission reports by Camille Wagner and Michael Donohue (pray daily as they finish their training/trips)
  • Annual Corn Roast (August 14th)

Youth and Youth families are all invited to Alex and Nadia Kuvshinikov's on Saturday, August 28th at 4 p.m. for our final 2010 Singspiration. All youth and their entire family are invited to attend.  (This will replace the usual Singspiration on Sunday p.m., August 29th).  Beverages will be provided, and every family should bring a dish to pass.

We hope that we will have 100% participation. Please save the date on your calendars!

This Wednesday night, August 4th: Is the Bible Just Another Book?
Written by Dwight Wagner

One of the most common claims heard today is that the Bible is merely a collection of contradictory human writings with no coherent structure. Even believers sometimes express frustration because they cannot understand how these various writings fit together. They cannot see the “big picture,” and many give up trying to understand Scripture. In this lecture Dr. Steven Lawson will remind Christians of the importance and privilege of knowing Scripture, helping them to grasp the basic content as well as its meaning and significance.
